Job Purpose
Provide in-market leadership to our team of Zoetis Veterinary Consultants who provide scientific and technical support to our customers on the health, diagnostics and disease control of animals. The person in role is also required to work closely with selected Account Managers (AM), their fellow veterinary colleagues-VetOps Lead and NVMs-and Area Business Managers using their veterinary expertise to support the delivery of sales growth and market share gains. Having this role in our structure ensures our scientific resources and technical activities create and deliver unparalleled value to our customers. It’s a major differentiator, creating competitive advantage and contributing to the growth of our business.
Core Responsibilities
Strategy and Planning
- Work closely with VetOps Lead and NVMs to plan, implement and coordinate Key Opinion Leader (KOL) management plans in line with current product focus and future product development and launches.
- Support the technical team in executing this strategy
- Contribute to the delivery of ZVC-specific value-added service activities such as CPD courses
- Translate strategy into tactical delivery for Veterinary colleagues
- Maintain current knowledge of the market, industry trends and competition.
- Interpret the effects and opportunities that exist with our portfolio of products and services
- Drive and implement Field Force Effectiveness (FFE) measures to ensure best use of resource and monitoring of ROI
- Maintain an overview of the account plans across the business, applying a strategic and technical view
- Plan frequent field visits with Veterinary colleagues.
- Utilise field time to understand day to day issues affecting field force, and monitor attitudes, skills, morale and effectiveness
- Play an active role and provide veterinary insight at all necessary company meetings, events and training.
- Set the expectation with team of Veterinary colleagues to do the same
Relationships
- Work with the ZVC team to deliver bespoke customer solutions utilising all available resources including value add services.
- Develop mutually beneficial long-term partnerships with our customers based on veterinary expertise, respect & reputation.
- Offer support, training and coaching to ZVCs, AMs and colleagues in the business unit that shares your expertise and adds value to our customers

Customer activities
- Provide high level technical support and consultancy to customers where required
- Undertake leadership activities that enable the ZVC team to be productive and effective; coach, monitor, feedback, train and support
- Monitor KPIs to drive the required coverage and frequency with identified target customers and deliver consequent growth
- Deliver strategic messages and marketing programmes to the field force via the ZVC team that fit into the context of the Solution Selling model
- Ensure our ZVC team provide the agreed standard of technical support to our customers, respond to customer queries and complaints quickly and effectively
Veterinary knowledge and expertise
- Share knowledge with ZVC and throughout wider business
- Identify opportunities to use expertise to affect commercial gain
- Maintain high level of expertise with the evolving portfolio of products, services, pricing and competition
Business Support & Relationships
- Work closely with technical and L&D on the delivery of high quality technical training for Veterinary colleagues and Sales Representatives
- Partner with the VetOps Lead, NVMs and L&D to ensure the quality of veterinary activities; clinic presentations, technical advice, KOL plans, service requests, clinical activities
- Contribute to the success of the business unit by role modelling best practice with colleagues, proactively welcoming ideas, sharing successes and enabling the team to do the same across the business
- Provide guidance and direction to ZVC team on business strategy, delivery of targets, people management and day to day operations
Compliance
- Maintain high standards of business conduct and compliance, adhering particularly to Pharmacovigilance Policy, Global vet Policy, Zoetis values, travel & expenses policy and local codes of practise
- Ensure the proper conduct of all ZVC clinical activities
- Ensure the recording of accurate business records.
- Communicate effectively, sharing account information with other stakeholders

Training & Qualifications
- Degree in Veterinary Medicine (MRCVS) is required
- Current passport and valid driving licence
- IT literate. Able to use standard business software and communication tools
Experience
- Minimum 3 years in ZVC role
Travel Requirement
- Regular frequency of travel
- Time in field with all UK ZVCs
- Occasional foreign travel
