Company Secretary Assistant – Bristol (2 Days per Week)
About the Position & Company
This purpose-driven, regulated financial services organisation is seeking a Company Secretary Assistant to join their team in Bristol. Your New Role
As Company Secretary Assistant, you will provide key support in delivering high-quality company secretarial and governance services. Working closely with the Company Secretary and senior stakeholders, your role ensures regulatory compliance and best-practice governance, while offering exposure to Board and Committee activity and opportunities to build strong relationships across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Board & Committee Meetings
- Coordinate meeting logistics, including preparing shepherding lists, drafting agendas, collating paperwork, and recording minutes
- Compliance & Statutory Filings
- Maintain statutory registers and ensure adherence to Companies House and regulatory filing requirements
- Governance Frameworks & Controls
- Support the development and maintenance of policies, internal controls, and delegations frameworks
- Annual Reporting
- Assist in compiling the annual report, including governance-related disclosures
- Internal & External Liaison
- Work with internal stakeholders to ensure timely submission of Board materials
- Support shareholder communications and governance documentation
- Board Evaluations & Training
- Assist with Board and Committee evaluations, training, and induction processes
- Regulatory Monitoring
- Stay informed about governance developments and regulatory changes to guide best practices

Requirements & Qualities
This role is ideal for an ambitious governance professional looking to advance their company secretarial career in a regulated environment. Essential qualifications and experience include:
- Progress towards (or interest in) a governance qualification (e.g., CGI / Governance Institute) or an equivalent professional background
- Previous experience in company secretarial, governance, legal, or compliance support (financial services experience is a plus)
- Strong understanding of:
- Corporate governance principles
- Regulatory environments (financial services is advantageous)
- Organisational & Multi-Tasking Skills
- Ability to prioritise responsibilities and meet tight deadlines
- Attention to Detail
- Accuracy in documentation and reporting
- Communication & Stakeholder Relations
- Clear written and verbal communication
- Confidence engaging with senior stakeholders
