Complex Injury Senior Associate – Manchester – Hybrid – Up to £70,000
About the Role
A leading national defendant law firm is seeking an experienced Senior Associate to join its specialist Complex Injury team in Manchester.
This is an excellent opportunity to work on complex, high-value personal injury claims, including complex injury matters, acting on behalf of major insurer clients across a broad range of sectors.
As a Senior Associate within the Complex Injury team, you will:
- Manage a caseload of complex multi-track claims
- Support senior lawyers on catastrophic injury matters valued in excess of £1 million
- Benefit from exposure to technically challenging work, sophisticated insurer clients, and excellent long-term career development opportunities
Responsibilities
Your key duties will include:
- Managing a caseload of complex multi-track personal injury claims valued from £100,000 to £500,000
- Assisting senior lawyers on catastrophic injury and large loss matters exceeding £1 million
- Advising insurer clients on liability, quantum, indemnity and litigation strategy
- Drafting pleadings, defences, schedules and counter-schedules
- Reviewing and analysing complex medical, liability and expert evidence
- Preparing valuations, reserve recommendations, and quantum assessments
- Representing clients at mediations, settlement meetings and conferences
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, counsel and experts
- Supporting and mentoring junior members of the team

Requirements
The ideal candidate will have:
- Qualified Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive
- Proven experience handling high-value multi-track personal injury litigation
- Strong knowledge of:
- Personal injury litigation
- Insurance law
- Civil Procedure Rules (CPR)
- Experience managing complex liability and quantum issues
- Excellent analytical, drafting and negotiation skills
- Commercially minded with strong client relationship abilities
- Ability to prioritise workloads and manage competing deadlines effectively
- Advantageous: Experience dealing with MIB claims, Article 75 matters, or Uninsured/Untraced Driver claims

Remuneration & Pension
- Salary up to £70,000 (dependent on experience)
- 25 days sick leave + 8 bank holidays (Opportunity to buy & sell 3 days)
- Increases to 26 days after 5 years’ service
- Increases to 27 days after 10 years’ service
