Role Overview

The Compliance Officer will ensure that the company operates in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies. This role is critical for maintaining ethical standards, mitigating operational risks, and ensuring compliance with industry-specific legislation such as health and safety regulations, environmental standards, and engineering contracting requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and monitor compliance programs across all engineering projects and business operations – UK & Europe.
  • Stay up-to-date with local, national, and industry-specific regulations, including Building Regulations, Health & Safety Legislation (e.g., CDM Regulations), Environmental Permitting, and contract compliance.
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections of projects, processes, and supplier/vendor relationships to assess compliance risks.
  • Provide guidance and training to staff and management on regulatory requirements, policies, and best practices.
  • Investigate potential compliance breaches, document findings, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Ensure timely reporting to regulatory bodies where applicable and maintain accurate records of compliance activities.

Requirements

  • Proven experience (3+ years) in a compliance role, ideally within engineering, construction, or technical services.
  • Strong knowledge of UK regulatory frameworks relevant to engineering contracting, including HSE legislation, environmental law, and contract law.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple compliance projects concurrently.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to provide guidance and influence stakeholders across all levels of the organization.
  • Experience in auditing, risk assessments, and reporting compliance issues.
  • Proficiency with compliance management software and MS Office suite.
