Job Title: Compliance Assistant
Location: Rochester, Kent; Onsite
Salary: Circa £26,500 depending on experience

Job Description:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and collaborative professional with a strong understanding of export control principles and company policy. In this role, you will apply your knowledge to support compliance activities, resolve a broad range of issues, and provide guidance within your area of expertise. Working as part of a closely connected team, you will contribute to shared objectives while managing your own responsibilities independently. You will engage with stakeholders across the business, support continuous improvement, and deliver solutions aligned to organisational priorities, leveraging your understanding of the business and its products.
Core duties:
- Support management of UK, US, and global export control compliance, including licensing activities, record-keeping, and compliance checks
- Maintain compliance registers and shared mailboxes, ensuring accurate records, timely follow-ups, and efficient administration
- Assist with licence applications, authorisations, and export control processes to support business operations
- Contribute to training, communications, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen compliance standards across the business
- Provide flexible support across compliance and legal activities, including research, documentation, investigations, and process improvement projects

Essential Skills:
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail, particularly in maintaining and managing compliance records
- Proven experience handling sensitive and confidential information, ensuring adherence to data protection and security requirements
- Competent in Microsoft Office applications, with the ability to use them efficiently in a professional environment
The Compliance Team:
As a Export Control Assistant you will work with numerous business functions to provide day-to-day guidance on compliance issues, with particular emphasis on meeting UK & US Export Control regulations and appropriate corporate/local policies. Within the Compliance Team you will collaborate to seek and introduce best practice and drive compliance related continuous improvement initiatives. You will apply your subject matter expertise in an area of Export Control, including application or development of policy and procedure, or resolution of problems and issues in complex, sensitive/difficult, high risk/impact situations.

Many roles also require higher levels of National Security Vetting where applicants must typically have 5 to 10 years of continuous residency in the UK depending on the vetting level required for the role, to allow for meaningful security vetting checks.
