Societe Generale is looking for a Compliance Controls Analyst Trainee to join our London Compliance Controls team. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience within a global banking environment, working alongside senior stakeholders and contributing to critical compliance, reporting and change management initiatives.
You'll gain exposure to regulatory and financial crime compliance risk management while developing valuable skills in data analysis, reporting, project coordination and stakeholder management.
About The Team
The Compliance Controls team operates as a key part of Societe Generale's second line of defence, helping to assess and strengthen compliance risk and control frameworks across the Group.
Working across a range of business areas including Global Markets, Global Banking & Advisory, Transaction & Payment Services and various support functions, the team plays a vital role in mitigating compliance, conduct and reputational risks across the organisation.
You'll work closely with the UK Chief Operating Officer, London Compliance teams and colleagues across London and Paris, providing support on reporting, governance, quality assurance and strategic change initiatives.
What You'll Be Doing
As a Trainee, you'll support the team across a broad range of activities, including:
Data Analysis & Reporting
- Managing and analysing data from reporting systems
- Cleansing, validating and restructuring data to support management reporting
- Producing reports and Management Information packs for senior stakeholders
- Supporting annual planning activities and ad-hoc analytical projects
- Helping enhance reporting quality, consistency and efficiency

Project & Change Management Support
- Supporting key global change initiatives and business improvement projects
- Coordinating actions and updates with stakeholders across functions and locations
- Assisting with the development and maintenance of collaborative tools and processes
- Tracking project progress and helping ensure successful delivery of key objectives
Governance & Operational Support
- Supporting quality control and quality assurance activities
- Assisting with the preparation and coordination of the team's annual plan
- Tracking remedial actions and recommendations
- Building relationships with colleagues across different levels of seniority within the organisation

What We're Looking For
We're interested in curious, motivated individuals who enjoy working with data and solving problems.
Essential Skills
- Strong analytical and data manipulation skills
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP and data analysis)
- Strong PowerPoint presentation skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Strong organisational and time-management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
Desirable Skills
- Experience using Power BI or reporting databases
- Exposure to project coordination or project management activities
- Understanding of financial services, risk or compliance environments
