Role: Compliance Coordinator
Location: Variety Bakery (Bolton)
Contract: Permanent
Salary: Competitive


The Recipe

We’re looking for someone who’s passionate about quality and compliance to help deliver our Unbeatable Quality Strategy. In this role, you’ll support the Compliance Manager to uphold the highest standards across our bakery and depot operations. You’ll play a key part in ensuring our sites meet all legal requirements and company expectations around food safety, hygiene, and product quality, helping us maintain the trust of our customers and the integrity of our brand. Please note due to the nature of this role you will be required on site full time.


The Role

  • Responsible for gathering and analysing monitoring data to ensure full compliance with all relevant standards within the Quality Management System.
  • Supporting a culture of continuous improvement and audit readiness.
  • Assisting the Compliance Manager in maintaining the accuracy of the Document Management System (DMS), ensuring timely updates and reliable reporting.
  • Completing internal site audits to schedule, verifying that control measures are consistently followed and documented.
  • Playing a key role in promoting food safety and hygiene standards across the bakery, helping teams understand and deliver against expectations.
  • Working closely with the Compliance Manager, contributing to the identification and implementation of appropriate hygiene protocols.
  • Supporting product quality assurance through routine checks and alignment with brand and regulatory standards.

Essential Ingredients

  • Auditor training
  • Minimum Level 3 HACCP & Food Safety qualifications
  • Knowledge of hygiene management, KPI’s CIC, etc
  • Appreciation of food microbiology
  • Awareness of quality systems and external standards implementation
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office packages
  • Demonstrates the ability to use a variety of IT systems and applications
  • Knowledge of HS&E and food safety legislation
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement techniques
  • Demonstrates ability to follow complex instructions and procedures with minimal supervision
  • Ability to accurately capture and interpret complex data to aid good decision making within scope of role
  • Demonstrates problem solving and decision-making capability within broad scope, knowing when to escalate
  • Ability to develop new skills and knowledge of varying complexity to work across a multi-skilled Operations
  • Demonstrates attention for detail and a focus on quality
  • Can positively adapt to changes in work requirements, undertaking a variety of activities across the Operation to meet business needs
  • Shares knowledge and experience with other members of the Operations Team and delivers support and guidance to other team members
  • Identifies and delivers operational improvements within their knowledge and experience

Desired

  • Knowledge and experience of working in a food company (ideally within a FMCG sector)
  • Knowledge of the principles of operational excellence techniques
  • Food & Drink Level 2 Apprenticeship
  • Awareness of bread making process: Plant, product, ingredient functionality and process technology
