Compliance Engineer
Job Description

The Opportunity
As a Grid Compliance Engineer, you will play a central role in delivering safe, reliable, and compliant grid connections across our renewable energy projects. You’ll help achieve our ambition to expand our operational and development portfolio while upholding the highest standards of engineering excellence. This involves maintaining your competency in both distribution and transmission connection requirements.
In this role, you will:
- Work across a diverse range of renewable energy technologies -Support compliance-related activities throughout a project’s lifecycle -Collaborate with internal and external teams including industry partners and technical organisations
This position offers flexibility to be based in London, Durham, or Edinburgh, with the ability to travel across the UK as required to support projects and teams.
Who You Are
We’re looking for a Grid Compliance Engineer who is proactive, solution-focused, and committed to delivering high-quality engineering outcomes.
To be shortlisted, you’ll need to demonstrate:
- Experience as a transmission or distribution UK grid compliance engineer
- A track record of successfully managing grid compliance processes for transmission or distribution-connected assets
- An engineering background in electrical or power systems
- Understanding of power system risks, health and safety, and environmental requirements
- A full UK driving licence

What You’ll Be Doing
- Managing compliance interfaces with the National Energy System Operator (NESO), Transmission Owner (TO), and Distribution Network Operator (DNO) throughout the project lifecycle.
- Supporting grid engineers in assessing transmission and distribution connection offers to ensure compliance and conformance.
- Overseeing UK/Irish grid code compliance processes, including obligations under the Balancing and Settlement Code for projects across different technologies.
- Conducting power system studies and reviews, identifying and resolving issues to maintain programme milestones.
- Acting as the compliance Subject Matter Expert (SME) on assigned projects to ensure compliance matters are integrated into timelines.
- Ensuring operational assets remain compliant with code obligations post-installation.
- Producing regular project reports and escalating compliance-related issues.
- Maintaining expertise in transmission and distribution compliance.
- Attending industry forums, seminars, and meetings to stay updated with grid code developments while fostering relationships with stakeholders.
- Embedding best practices including lessons learned and operational experience into engineering activities.
