About the Role

Are you ready to help shape a smarter, greener energy system by ensuring our renewable projects connect safely and reliably to the UK grid? At EDF Power Solutions, your expertise in grid engineering will support our growing portfolio and directly contribute to Britain’s journey to net zero.

The Opportunity

As a Grid Compliance Engineer, you will play a central role in delivering safe, reliable, and compliant grid connections across our renewable energy projects. You will help us achieve our ambition to expand our operational and development portfolio while upholding the highest standards of engineering excellence. This involves maintaining your competency and knowledge of both distribution and transmission connection requirements.

In this role:

  • You will work across a diverse range of technologies and support compliance-related activities.
  • You’ll collaborate with colleagues from various departments throughout the asset’s lifecycle and engage with external partners, industry bodies, and technical organisations.
  • This position can be based in London/Durham/Edinburgh, with flexibility to travel across the UK to support projects.

Who You Are

We are looking for a Grid Compliance Engineer who is:

  • Proactive, solutions-focused, and committed to delivering high-quality engineering outcomes.

To be shortlisted, you need to offer:

  • Experience as a transmission or distribution UK grid compliance engineer.
  • Proven track record in successfully managing grid compliance processes for UK transmission or distribution-connected assets.
  • An engineering background in electrical or power systems.
  • An understanding of power system risk, health, safety, and environmental (HSE) requirements.
  • A full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing compliance-related interfaces with the:

    • National Energy System Operator (NESO).
    • Transmission Owner (TO).
    • Distribution Network Operator (DNO). For multiple projects throughout the project’s lifecycle.
  • Supporting grid engineers in assessing:

    • Transmission and distribution connection offers to ensure our ability to achieve conformance.
  • Managing the UK/Irish grid code compliance process, including Balancing and settlement code-related obligations for various projects across different energy technologies.

  • Conducting power system studies and reviews, identifying and resolving issues to ensure programme milestones are maintained.

  • Acting as the compliance Subject Matter Expert (SME) within the project team on allocated projects to ensure:

    • Queries and compliance timelines are appropriately integrated.
    • Timelines support meeting project milestones.
  • Ensuring ongoing compliance for operational assets to meet code obligations.

  • Providing regular reports for allocated projects and escalating issues where required.

  • Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of compliance requirements for both transmission and distribution connections.

  • Attending industry forums, seminars, and meetings, to:

    • Stay updated on the grid code compliance process and current issues.
    • Build strong relationships with key stakeholders in the industry.
