Salary: £51,356 | Level: CFL10

Background

Swindon Borough Council is delivering a significant improvement and transformation programme. Following a C3 regulatory judgement, we took decisive action and are investing £250 million over the next five years to improve safety, compliance, stock condition, and tenant experience. As part of this journey, we are investing in our teams and ensuring that new structures are in place to fully realize the improvements planned and required.

Gas safety is a core pillar of this programme, with renewed focus on assurance, contractor performance, and data-led oversight.

Your New Role

As Compliance Lead - Gas, you will lead the delivery of gas safety compliance across the Council's housing and corporate assets.

Reporting to the Service Manager, you will act as the Council's subject matter expert for gas safety, taking ownership of day-to-day compliance delivery and ensuring statutory obligations are met consistently and effectively.

You will lead planned inspection, servicing, and remedial programmes, manage external contractors, monitor performance, and maintain clear oversight of compliance records and certification. Alongside operational delivery, you will support service improvement, forward planning, and investigations, embedding a strong culture of safety, accountability, and professional assurance.

What You'll Need To Succeed

You will have strong experience managing gas safety compliance within a social housing or local authority setting and hold relevant ACS gas qualifications. You will understand statutory gas safety requirements and have experience managing compliance programmes and contractor performance.
