About the Role
Swindon Borough Council’s improvement and transformation programme — prompted by a C3 regulatory judgement — prioritises safety, compliance, stock condition, and tenant experience. This initiative includes investing in teams and restructuring to deliver tangible improvements over the next five years.
Gas safety is a core pillar of this programme. The Council is enhancing assurance, contractor performance, and data-driven oversight to ensure adherence to compliance standards.

Your Responsibilities
As the Compliance Lead - Gas, you will:
- Lead the delivery of gas safety compliance across the Council’s housing and corporate assets.
- Report to the Service Manager and serve as the subject matter expert for gas safety.
- Oversee day-to-day compliance delivery to meet statutory obligations.
- Manage planned inspections, servicing, and remedial programmes.
- Coordinate and monitor external contractors, tracking performance and maintaining certification records.
- Support service improvements, forward planning, and investigations.
- Embed a culture of safety, accountability, and professional assurance.
Essential Requirements
- Proven experience managing gas safety compliance in a social housing or local authority setting.
- Relevant ACS gas qualifications.
- Deep understanding of statutory gas safety requirements.
- Experience overseeing compliance programmes and contractor performance.
- Ability to analyse compliance data, offer technical guidance, and make important decisions.
- A recognised health and safety qualification (desirable).
