Compliance Manager
Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent
Location: London
Role Overview
The Compliance Manager will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the organisation’s risk and compliance framework across a number of jurisdictions. The role encompasses:
- Regulatory Compliance
- Financial Crime Prevention
- Enterprise Risk Management
- Data Protection
As a key control function, you will ensure the business meets its regulatory obligations, effectively identifies and mitigates risk, and maintains robust governance standards.
Key Responsibilities
Regulatory Compliance
- Monitor and interpret regulatory developments across multiple jurisdictions.
- Maintain and enhance the compliance framework, ensuring alignment with group policies and local regulatory requirements.
- Manage policy governance and approval processes.
- Oversee Terms of Business Agreements (TOBAs) and introducer arrangements.
- Provide guidance on cross-border business and regulatory considerations.
- Prepare and deliver management information, including:
- Key Risk Indicators (KRIs)
- Regulatory updates
- Risk and control assessments
- Deliver compliance and financial crime training for new and existing employees.
- Foster a strong risk and compliance culture across the business.

Financial Crime
- Maintain and enhance the financial crime framework, including AML, CTF, sanctions, and anti-bribery controls.
- Conduct client due diligence, KYC reviews, sanctions screening, and PEP checks.
- Manage internal escalation processes relating to suspicious activity concerns.
- Ensure financial crime risks are appropriately considered in new products and business initiatives.
- Produce financial crime reporting for senior stakeholders.
- Deliver tailored financial crime training programmes.
- Oversee outsourced service providers and third-party controls.
- Maintain ongoing screening and monitoring processes.
Risk Management
- Own and maintain the enterprise risk management framework, including:
- Risk registers
- Risk appetite statements
- Tolerance thresholds
- Control effectiveness assessments
- Business-wide risk assessments
- Ensure material risks are escalated appropriately.
- Deliver timely risk reporting to senior management and governance committees.
- Support committee administration and governance documentation.
Data Protection
- Act as a subject matter expert on privacy and data protection matters.
- Provide guidance on data management and privacy risks.
- Support data breach response and incident management processes.
- Drive ongoing privacy maturity initiatives across the business.
- Ensure compliance with applicable data protection regulations across all operating jurisdictions.

Skills & Competencies
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a multi-jurisdictional regulatory environment.
- Analytical, organised, and detail-focused approach.
- Strong commercial awareness balanced with sound regulatory judgement.
- Comfortable operating at both strategic and hands-on levels.
Knowledge & Technical Expertise
Essential
- UK financial services regulatory frameworks.
- Insurance regulation and distribution requirements.
- Financial crime regulations, including sanctions, AML, CTF, and anti-bribery requirements.
- UK and EU data protection legislation.
Experience Required
- Minimum 6 years' experience in risk and compliance within financial services.
- Experience within insurance, specialty insurance, or a related sector.
- Proven experience operating in multi-jurisdictional environments.
Professional Qualifications (Desirable)
- Relevant professional certifications such as:
- ICA
- ACAMS
- IRM
- CII
- Or equivalent industry qualifications.
