What To Expect
We are seeking an experienced and commercially aware Compliance Manager to lead the regulatory compliance function within our electricity supply operations. Reporting directly to the Head of Operations, this role is responsible for the compliance and risk management framework across our retail supply business in Great Britain. You will act as the internal authority on GB electricity supply regulation, ensuring the business operates in full alignment with Ofgem's requirements, industry codes, and licence conditions. You will work closely with Operations, Commercial, Legal, and Customer teams to embed a compliance-first culture while enabling the business to grow and innovate with confidence. This is a high-impact role for a regulatory professional who is proactive, pragmatic, and passionate about the energy transition – someone who can translate complex regulatory obligations into clear operational requirements.
What You'll Do
Regulatory Compliance & Licence Obligations
- Own and maintain the business's compliance framework, ensuring ongoing adherence to the Electricity Supply Licence Conditions, Ofgem Standards of Conduct, and all applicable regulatory obligations.
- Monitor, interpret, and communicate regulatory changes from Ofgem, DESNZ, and industry bodies, assessing impact on operations and driving timely implementation.
- Manage the business's obligations under key industry codes including the Balancing and Settlement Code (BSC), Retail Energy Code (REC), Smart Energy Code (SEC), and the Connections Use of System Code (CUSC).
- Maintain an up-to-date regulatory obligation register and ensure internal policies, procedures, and controls reflect current requirements.
- Act as the primary point of contact for Ofgem and other regulatory bodies, managing information requests, reporting obligations, and audit processes.
Risk Management
- Define and manage the compliance risk framework, identifying, assessing, and mitigating regulatory risks across all areas of the retail supply business.
- Proactively escalate material compliance risks to the Head of Operations and senior leadership, providing clear recommendations and options.
- Support dispute resolution and regulatory investigations, including any matters relating to fines, penalties, or enforcement action.
- Track and monitor all compliance deadlines, submissions, and reporting obligations to ensure nothing is missed.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
