About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Compliance Manager to join a purpose-driven housing organisation committed to delivering safe, high-quality homes and excellent services for residents.

Reporting into the senior Property Services leadership team, you will lead the delivery of statutory compliance across a diverse residential portfolio, ensuring the organisation meets all legal, regulatory and health & safety obligations. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive leader who is passionate about building safety, compliance excellence and continuous service improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery of all landlord statutory compliance programmes, including:
    • Gas Safety
    • Electrical Safety
    • Fire Safety
    • Water Hygiene
    • Asbestos Management
    • Lifts and Mechanical & Electrical compliance
  • Ensure full compliance with relevant legislation, regulatory requirements and industry best practice.
  • Develop and implement compliance strategies, policies and performance frameworks.
  • Manage specialist contractors, ensuring high-quality service delivery, value for money and contractual compliance.
  • Monitor compliance performance through KPIs, audits and reporting, identifying risks and implementing improvement plans.
  • Lead on regulatory inspections, internal audits and compliance assurance activities.
  • Maintain accurate compliance records and provide reports to senior leadership.
  • Work collaboratively with Asset Management, Repairs and Property Services teams to ensure a joined-up approach to building safety.
  • Manage budgets effectively while ensuring excellent customer outcomes.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, accountability and resident safety.

About You

We're looking for someone who can demonstrate:

  • Significant experience managing statutory compliance within social housing, local government or a similarly regulated property environment.
  • Strong technical knowledge of landlord compliance and building safety legislation.
  • Experience managing contractors and complex compliance contracts.
  • Excellent understanding of risk management, governance and regulatory compliance.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience developing and motivating teams.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Experience producing performance reports and presenting information to senior leaders.
  • A customer-focused approach with a commitment to delivering safe, compliant homes.

Desirable

  • Relevant professional qualification in Building Surveying, Property, Compliance, Health & Safety or a related discipline.
  • Membership of a relevant professional body (RICS, CIOB, IWFM, IFE or similar).
  • Knowledge of the Social Housing Regulatory Framework and Building Safety Act.
