Great Lakes Insurance UK Limited (“GLLS”), regulated by Prudential Regulation Authority and the Financial Conduct Authority, is a fully owned subsidiary of Great Lakes Insurance SE and acts as the preferred facilitator of delegated authority insurance business in the UK post-Brexit.
About the role:
Ensuring excellent customer service to Great Lakes London clients and a high level of data quality when it comes to system maintenance and processing. Excellent understanding of all of Great Lakes Insurance and Technical Accounting processes and to build relationships between Technical Accounting and their clients (External and Internal). Taking responsibility for any Technical Accounting issues that arise. Guide and support team members on business as usual topics, provide assistance and input to RIA UK Managers on advanced/complex issues.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deputise for the Head of RIA UK Operations DA when required.
- Support Head of RIA UK Operations DA to develop and implement team’s common goals.
- Provide expert technical solutions and support for Head of RIA UK Operations DA.
- Communicate organizational needs, oversee the daily workflow, activity, and delivery of the team, provide guidance, support, and identify and escalate individual development needs to the Head of RIA UK Operations DA.
- Support Head of RIA UK Operations DA to drive efficiencies and process improvements within the team in line with Global processes.
- Ensure the day-to-day tasks of the Operations team are completed in a timely fashion based on key deadlines with high quality.
- Monitor and provide technical review to the team’s work, provide sign-offs of key processes with the Head of RIA UK Operations DA.
- Lead the quarter-end hard close process, be the main contact for RIA UK Closing and Reporting team to support the quarter-end closing activities.
- Represent the team to participate and contribute as a subject matter expert in projects.
- Engage with the team and schedule regular one-to-one catch-ups with our team, to compliment Continuous Conversations being undertaken by Head of RIA UK Operations DA.
- Providing support to new recruits and the less experienced members of the team, act as mentor. Demonstrate integrity, set a good example, listen, and communicate well.

Key Skills & Experience:
- Sound knowledge of Insurance and Reinsurance.
- Excellent technical subledger (e.g., FS-RI & FSCD) and/or DEFnS knowledge.
- Understanding of Great Lakes’ Global and Local Accounting processes as well as the Internal Control System within Munich Re Group.
Qualifications and Educational Requirements:
Educated to a degree standard or relevant Insurance/Reinsurance experience.

- Satisfying all regulatory reporting requirements in collaboration with the reporting function.
