Quality & Compliance Specialist
Location: Essex – hybrid, 2–3 days in the office
Salary: IRO £35,000
Hours: Full-time
The Role
Our client is looking for a hands-on Quality & Compliance Specialist to help build, improve and manage practical quality processes across the business. The initial focus will be on compliance, incident management, corrective actions, and quality procedures. You will help create clear processes, maintain accurate records, track actions, and ensure issues are followed through to completion.
This is not a senior management or people-management role. It would suit someone with experience in quality, compliance, ISO, office management, operations, or administration who has taken responsibility for setting up and maintaining structured processes. Health and safety experience is not required but this is a good transferable background.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and improve the Quality Management System.
- Create and update policies, procedures, SOPs, and supporting documents.
- Manage document control and maintain audit-ready records.
- Develop and maintain incident, non-conformance, and corrective-action processes.
- Coordinate investigations and support root-cause analysis.
- Track actions through to completion and escalate overdue items.
- Support internal and external audits.
- Maintain compliance trackers, reports, and dashboards.
- Work with operational teams to ensure processes are understood and followed.
- Support accreditation, tender, and customer evidence requirements.
- Identify gaps and help introduce clearer, more consistent ways of working.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

About You
You do not need to have previously held the title of Quality Manager. You may currently be working as a Quality Coordinator, Compliance Officer, ISO Coordinator, Office Manager, Senior Administrator, or Operations Coordinator.
You will need:
- Experience of quality, compliance, audits, or management systems.
- Practical knowledge of ISO 9001.
- Experience creating or maintaining policies, procedures, and records.
- Strong organisation and attention to detail.
- Confidence chasing actions and working with different teams.
- The ability to turn requirements into clear, workable processes.
- Good Microsoft Office and systems skills.
- Experience in a regulated or operational environment would be useful, as would an internal auditor qualification, but neither is essential.
