Certification Verification Engineer (CVE) – Aerospace Design & Certification
Location: Hybrid workplace in Bristol Employment Type: Multiple roles across various disciplines in eVTOL certification
About the Role
Expleo, a global engineering services provider, supports businesses in delivering innovation through digital transformation, aerospace design, certification, and quality services. We are seeking multiple Certification Verification Engineers (CVEs) to play a critical role in certifying next-generation electric rotorcraft (eVTOL) platforms.
These roles involve independent verification and approval of engineering evidence to demonstrate compliance with EASA Certification Specifications (CS-27/CS-29). Successfully selected candidates will:
- Act as an independent technical authority in their discipline.
- Ensure designs meet safety, performance, and regulatory standards.
- Shape the future of Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) by leading certification for cutting-edge aircraft.

Responsibilities
Core Accountabilities
Within this role, you will be responsible for:
- Acting as a Compliance Verification Engineer (CVE) in your assigned technical discipline.
- Reviewing and approving compliance demonstration evidence, including:
- Analysis results
- Test data
- Technical reports and documentation
- Ensuring adherence to EASA Certification Specifications (CS-23, CS-27, CS-29) and regulatory frameworks.
- Defining and agreeing means of compliance, ensuring alignment with certification standards.
- Evaluating engineering artifacts across the full lifecycle, including:
- Requirements
- Design reviews
- Analysis cases
- Test and validation evidence
- Assessing flight safety documentation (e.g., FHA, PSSA, SSA) to ensure safety objectives are robustly traced.
- Setting and maintaining requirements traceability matrices to validate design flaws.
- Assessing discipline-specific airworthiness criteria (e.g., flight handling, electrical integrity, avionics robustness, structural durability).
- Reviewing certification documentation, CRF reports, and compliance matrices.
- Cross-functional collaboration with:
- Internal engineering teams
- Third-party manufacturers
- External regulatory authorities
- Providing independent expert judgement in technical and certification reviews.
- Supporting risk mitigation and technical queries to resolve compliance issues timeously.

Technical Requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical or Electric Engineering, or related discipline.
- Chartered Engineer status (or pursuit thereof) within a recognized professional body (e.g., IMechE, RAeS).
- Any HNC/HND candidates must demonstrate significant, relevant experience to offset lower academic qualifications.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Deep expertise in EASA CS standards (CS-27, CS-29 preferred; CS-23 experience also accepted).
- Hands-on experience in compliance verification, approval processes, and certification submissions.
- Evaluating technical reasoning—assessing evidence for robustness over methodologies.
- Applied knowledge of regulatory frameworks such as:
- Verification methods (e.g., analysis, simulations, ground/flight test substantiation).
- System safety processes (Functional Hazard Analyses, Particular Solutions Systems, Airworthiness Safety Assessments).
- Traceability systems and compliance tracing tools.
- Strong analytical and engineering judgement to weigh trade-offs and risks.
- Proven ability to write clear, regulatory-grade documentation with technical precision.
- Diplomatic collaboration skills for stakeholder engagement with aerospace stakeholders.

Preferred Attributes (Experience Advantages)
- Certificationдавность (or equivalent approval authority) role experience.
- Experience across multiple engineering disciplines (e.g., systems, aircraft structures, aircraft propulsion).
- Background in electric propulsion, batteries, high-voltage systems, or energy storage.
- Understanding of ARP4754/ARP4761 (aerospace safety processes).
- Preference for candidates with eVTOL/AAM certification submits or prior exposure to ATP category rotorphones.
Key Criteria for Application
- Must hold the right to live and work in the UK (sponsorship is unavailable for this role).
- Must invest in EASA knowledge during employment (travel to UK locations or regulatory centers may be required).
