Composite Assistant Nights

Job Summary
Our client GKN Aerospace are looking to recruit Night Shift Composite Assistants to be based at their Western Approach site in **Severn Beach (postcode: BS35 4GG).
The role involves assisting in the manufacture of aircraft components from composite materials, ensuring they meet design and engineering requirements.
Role Details
- Initial core days (Mon–Fri, 7:30 AM–3:30 PM) for training before transitioning to night shift (duration depends on experience)
- Payment rates:
- Days: £13.30 per hour
- Nights: £17.69 per hour
- Overtime: £19.95 per hour
- Weekend Overtime: £26.60 per hour

Hours & Shifts
- Initial Days (Mon–Fri): 7:30 AM–3:30 PM
- Night Shift:
- Mon–Wed: 8 PM–6 AM
- Thu: 7 PM–4:30 AM
DUTIES
- Move spars, tooling, and equipment to optimize production flow using lifting equipment like cranes, fork lifts, and AGVs
- Plan ahead to maximize equipment utilization and eliminate downtime
- Prepare and clean tooling for composite spar manufacture
- Assist with debagging spars post-cure and other operational tasks
- Actively participate in continuous improvement activities
- Comply with Health & Safety protocols

QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS
- Experience in a manufacturing/production environment
- Manual handling skills and ability to operate lifting equipment
- Prior exposure to cranes, fork lifts, or AGVs is a plus
- Strong problem-solving, proactive planning, and process comprehension skills
- Demonstrated hand coordination and technical aptitude
- Familiarity with composite manufacturing processes preferred
- Self-motivated, with excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Adaptable to operate independently or in small teams
- Willingness to undertake training
- Working knowledge of IT systems
