What to Expect
We are looking for highly motivated individuals to join our expanding production team to produce components for the range of McLaren high-performance sports cars.
What You'll Do
As a composite apprentice, you will be responsible for assisting in the design, tooling, moulding, lay-up, curing, and production of composite products for McLaren's Performance Road cars. You will work under the supervision of experienced technicians and engineers, learning the necessary skills and knowledge to become a proficient composite technician.
- Understand and follow detailed work instructions / SOP’s
- Ensure that all station operations are complete to the required quality standard.
- Ensure that all operations are complete in the required timescale (Takt time).
- Work as part of a team on the definition and solution of problems that may be affecting the quality, cost, or productivity.
- Attend the workplace on a regular and timely basis, informing the Team Leader of any lateness or unplanned absence in a timely manner.
- Ensure the work area is clean, tidy, and orderly always in line with McLaren expectations.
- Maintain a safe working environment for yourself and team members.
- Participate in continuous improvement activities as requested.
- Understand and adhere to the McLaren Values and help grow the company.

- Operating and maintaining equipment used in composite production, such as cutting tools, vacuum pumps, and autoclaves
- Assisting in the preparation of moulds and tooling for composite parts
- Learning and adhering to safety procedures and regulations
- Keeping track of inventory and ordering supplies as necessary
- Collaborating with other team members to meet project deadlines and quality standards
- Conducting tests and inspections to ensure the quality of finished products
- Maintaining accurate records of production activities and materials used
What You'll Bring
Knowledge, skills & experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Interest in composite materials and manufacturing
- Good hand-eye coordination and attention to detail
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Willingness to learn and follow instructions
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift heavy objects, and work in a variety of conditions
- Basic math and computer skills
- Effective communication and problem-solving skills
