CNC Machinist
Manchester
£28,000 - £38,000 (dependent on experience) + Shift Allowance
The Business
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced CNC Machinist to join a well-established precision engineering manufacturer in Manchester. This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a business known for producing precision-engineered components. The CNC Machinist will be joining a skilled machine shop team with access to modern CNC machinery, working in an environment that values continuous improvement, quality safety, and career development.
Responsibilities of the CNC Machinist
- Setting and operating 3, 4 & 5 Axis vertical milling machines to manufacture precision components.
- Producing quality parts while maintaining accuracy throughout production runs.
- Preparing tooling, fixtures, and job documentation before production.
- Carrying out routine machine maintenance.
- Operating more than one machine where appropriate.
- Inspecting components using CNC and manual CMM equipment.
- Ensuring all manufactured parts meet engineering drawings and quality standards.
- Identifying production or engineering issues and communicating with Team Leaders, Production Planning, and Engineering.
- Following all Health & Safety procedures and supporting 5S and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements of the CNC Machinist
- Time Served Engineering Apprenticeship or equivalent Engineering background.
- At least 2 year’s experience setting and operating 3, 4 & 5 Axis CNC milling machines.
- Good knowledge of vertical machining centres.
- Experience reading engineering drawings and machining precision components.
- Understanding of machining methods and engineering best practice.
- Experience with Fanuc or Mazak controls.
- Knowledge of CMM inspection equipment.
- Understanding of GD&T and quality systems.
