Computer Numerical Control Machinist

CNC Miller (4 & 5 Axis)

First Achieve Engineering Recruitment are acting on behalf of our client, a well-established precision engineering company, to recruit an experienced CNC Miller to join their skilled manufacturing team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for producing high-quality precision components while maintaining exceptional standards of accuracy and workmanship.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set, operate and programme CNC milling machines
  • Machine precision components to engineering drawings and customer specifications
  • Operate 4 and 5 axis CNC machining centres.
  • Select appropriate tooling and machining methods.
  • Carry out first-off and in-process inspections using measuring equipment.
  • Ensure components meet quality standards and tight tolerances.
  • Troubleshoot machining and tooling issues where required.
  • Maintain a safe, clean and organised working environment.
  • Work effectively to meet production deadlines.

Essential Requirements

  • Proven experience as a CNC Miller within a precision engineering environment.
  • Experience setting and operating 4 and 5 axis CNC milling machines.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Experience working to fine tolerances.
  • Competent using inspection equipment including micrometres, verniers and gauges.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience with Heidenhain controls would be advantageous.
  • Programming experience is desirable.
  • Previous experience producing low-volume, high-precision components.
  • Time served Apprenticeship in engineering discipline.
