Computer Science Teacher & Subject Lead
(With TLR – Academic or Pastoral, depending on experience and school needs)
Full time/Part time (flexible for the right candidate)
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

As the sole Computer Science teacher and Subject Lead, you will play a pivotal part in shaping the subject’s direction and inspiring students in a close-knit learning environment. Responsible for
- Leading Computer Science across the school
- Line management of any future Computer Science staff
- Coordinating relevant support staff/resources
Purpose of the Role
- To deliver outstanding Computer Science teaching and learning
- To lead the strategic development, curriculum planning, and quality assurance of Computer Science
- To contribute to whole-school teaching and learning/pastoral initiatives via TLR
- To inspire, challenge, and support all students to achieve their potential

Key Responsibilities
Teaching and Learning
- Teach engaging and effective Computer Science lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4 (and 5 if applicable)
- Employ a range of teaching strategies to meet diverse learning needs
- Motivate and inspire pupils to achieve their best
Curriculum Planning and Development
- Design, implement, and review a creative and ambitious Computer Science curriculum
- Ensure curriculum coherence, challenge, and progression
Assessment, Recording and Reporting
- Set, mark, and assess work in line with school policy
- Use formative and summative assessment to inform planning and progression
- Provide timely and constructive feedback to pupils and parents
Behaviour and Safeguarding
- Maintain high standards of behaviour, following school policies
- Promote and safeguard the welfare of children
Subject Leadership
- Develop and articulate a clear vision for Computer Science
- Lead departmental self-evaluation and improvement planning
Data Analysis and Raising Achievement
- Track and analyse pupil performance data
- Plan interventions to raise attainment and close gaps
Staff Collaboration
- Work collaboratively with colleagues on whole-school initiatives
- Share good practice and support staff development

Parent Communication
- Communicate regularly and effectively with parents/carers
Extra-curricular Contributions
- Lead or support Computer Science-related clubs, competitions, or enrichment
Professional Development
- Engage in regular CPD to enhance subject expertise and leadership skills
Subject Leader Responsibilities
- Develop and review the Computer Science curriculum
- Monitor teaching standards and student outcomes
- Produce schemes of work, lesson plans, and assessment materials
- Manage departmental resources and budget efficiently
- Promote Computer Science across the school and community
TLR Responsibilities (Academic or Pastoral)
Academic Examples:
- Lead on Teaching and Learning development
- Drive assessment and feedback strategies
- Innovate in curriculum design
- Coach and mentor staff
- Advance digital learning strategy
- Use data to identify and support underperforming students
Pastoral Examples:
- Assume Head of Year responsibilities
- Oversee student welfare and wellbeing
- Monitor attendance and punctuality
- Support positive behaviour strategies
- Liaise with parents on pastoral matters
- Coordinate the personal development programme
