Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced teacher in Computer Science to join our dynamic team.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
The role involves:
- Delivering high-quality online lessons
- Engaging students in interactive learning
- Ensuring academic excellence
The Computer Science Teacher will be responsible for teaching:
- KS3 Computing (Y7–9) aligned with Pearson’s International Lower Secondary curriculum
- iGCSE Computer Science (Pearson) for Y10–11
- International A Level Computer Science for Y12–13 (Pearson/CIE)
Additional duties may include:
- Leading coding clubs
- Participating in coding and computing competitions
- Developing and delivering unique extracurriculars
Core Responsibilities
Teaching
- Ensure students acquire knowledge and make progress according to ability
- Foster critical thinking, creativity, and independent learning
- Design and deliver structured, engaging lessons using appropriate teaching methods
- Adapt lessons based on student needs (aptitude, prior attainment, progress)
- Maintain behaviour management and encourage responsible student behaviour
- Provide personalised feedback on assignments, marking, and reporting
- Collaborate with the Head of Department on curriculum development and teaching materials

Safeguarding & Wellbeing

- Report any safeguarding concerns to designated leads
- Act as a safe adult responsible for student welfare
Tutorial & Support
- Provide academic and career guidance
- Assess student progress and record development (Student Study Plans)
- Maintain open communication with students and parents
- Participate in tutorial meetings as required
Extracurricular Activities
- Actively contribute to school clubs, competitions, and events as required
Assessments & Reporting
- Create and contribute to written/oral assessments
- Follow Reporting Guidelines for progress tracking
- Submit reports and assessments by agreed deadlines
Professional Development
- Stay updated on industry trends and exam board updates
- Participate in INSET training and curriculum reviews
Health & Safety
- Maintain discipline and assist with health/safety during lessons
- Adhere to health and safety policies

Person Specification
Essential Requirements
✔ A degree in Computer Science or a related discipline (e.g., Mathematics, Informatics, Engineering) ✔ A recognition teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, QTS, or equivalent) ✔ Enhanced DBS certificate ✔ Familiarity with British curriculum standards (including Pearson syllabi) ✔ Experience with secondary/GCSE/A-Level Computer Science teaching
Desirable Advantages
✔ Master’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or STEM, with a focus on teaching methodologies ✔ Previous experience with online teaching platforms ✔ Demonstrated commitment to student wellbeing and pastoral care
