Computer Vision Engineer - Master's Grad Considered
A brilliant opportunity for a Computer Vision Engineer or Master's Graduate to work for an exciting start-up in Saffron Walden, Essex, that is tackling some of the world’s most pressing challenges. The company is founded by a team of brilliant Engineers who have already realised success with other start-ups. This offers the chance to work in an environment filled with technological innovation whilst working on cutting-edge tech. You will apply your knowledge in computer vision systems, from initial design through to product launch. This role is open to both experienced Computer Vision Engineers and Master’s Grads with relevant academic project experience in Computer Vision.
Our client values those with absolute top academics - therefore, requires a 2.1 or 1st from an internationally renowned university and all A's at A-Level (or international equivalent).
Due to the nature of some client projects, you must be willing and eligible to obtain DV Security Clearance. This generally requires a long-term UK residency history (typically 10+ years) and the ability to pass government security vetting. You can join the team and work on other commercial projects while your clearance application is progressing.

Salary: £30,000 to £60,000 per annum

- Educated to PhD level in Computer Vision or a related field
- Hold a Master’s degree with strong academic project experience in computer vision
- Have proven industry experience as a Computer Vision Engineer
- This company values a solid academic history (i.e. top Uni with good grades throughout, AAA at A Level, etc.).
- Skilled in building computer vision solutions, with a focus on object detection and motion tracking.
- Knowledgeable in modern machine learning techniques, including convolutional neural networks (CNNs) and transformer models.
- Ideally, you'll have experience with tracking methods, including the use of Kalman filters.
- Aware of traditional, lower-resource image processing techniques such as blob detection.
- Proficient in Python for developing and implementing solutions.
- Any experience in the following is beneficial: video analysis, optics or working within an agile environment.
- Due to the nature of some clients, you must be willing and eligible to qualify for UK Security Clearance (this usually means you have been a UK resident for at least 5 years, have a clean criminal record, etc.)
- A full UK driving licence is ideal

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
