Senior Conceptual Copywriter - Social first

3 month FTC
Starting w/c 3rd Aug
(Apply solo, or as an existing Art Director + Copywriter duo)

We're looking for a Social first Conceptual Copywriter who puts the audience first, with bold thinking who want to help reshape how a major organisation talks to the public. We're open to individual writers who are open to partnering up with an Art Director for this contract, or a duo who already work together and want to come in as a pair.

As the narrative half of a Conceptual Team, you'll work in tandem with an Art Director to invent the big ideas behind social content and campaigns. This goes well beyond polishing a brief; you'll be inventing angles, taking complicated priorities and turning them into stories that feel human, with hooks that grab attention in seconds and lines that make people stop scrolling.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

What you'll do

  • Alongside the Art Director, you'll shape ideas from the ground up, with a sharp focus on story shape and that all-important opening hook.
  • You'll write copy and scripts for content and short form video that reads naturally out loud rather than like a press release.
  • You'll flex your copy to fit each platform: TikTok, YouTube, Instagram or a LinkedIn post built to spark conversation, a caption designed to drive comments, on-screen text that adds just enough context.
  • You'll be the one holding the line on tone, cutting jargon, keeping things honest and building trust rather than eroding it.
  • You'll also help bring pitch decks to life with copy that sells the story, and stay closely involved through the edit to protect the script's intent.

What you'll bring

  • A strong body of work in social-first campaigns and scripts; we want to see your hooks, your headlines, your thinking, not just finished copy.
  • You'll have worked as part of a creative pair or solo, developing concepts for social or integrated campaigns.
  • You'll be able to switch tone on a dime: serious and empathetic one moment, sharp and playful the next.
  • You'll be fluent in internet culture, know your way around slang and meme references (and when to leave them out), and ideally have some experience guiding more junior writers.
  • A background in agencies, advertising or digital newsrooms is a plus, as is any experience writing for influencers or creators.
