Thomas Telford UTC – Attendance and Conduct Officer

Main Purpose of the Role

The Attendance and Conduct Officer will contribute to TTUTC as part of a team led by the Director of Attendance and Conduct, working closely to uphold the school's high standards while supporting students and staff:

  • Form strong, positive relationships with all students across the UTC
  • Offer behavioural interventions to improve conduct and well-being
  • Promote a culture of professionalism, respect, and accountability among students

The role involves collaborative work with an experienced conduct team and the wider senior leadership team, ensuring cohesive efforts to address student conduct challenges.


Key Responsibilities

Student Conduct and Support

  • Lead day-start, day-end, and lunchtime shift duties as part of the conduct team.
  • Monitor student behaviour within classrooms, intervene as needed, and support staff.
  • Implement targeted behavioural interventions to address misconduct.
  • Investigate conduct incidents and communicate outcomes to staff.
  • Record incidents on Bromcom (school management system) in a consistent and accurate manner.
  • Engage with parents/carers through in-person meetings, phone calls, and written correspondence regarding child conduct.
  • Deliver the UTC’s anti-bullying programme in collaboration with the conduct team.
  • Liaise with external agencies (e.g., social services) when required to support student safeguarding.
  • Oversee reintegration packages for pupils returning after exclusions or absences, following directions from leadership.

Additional General Responsibilities

  • Provide first aid assistance to students, staff, and visitors.
  • Undertake any additional duties as reasonably required by the Principal in line with post responsibilities.

Conditions of Employment

  • Term-time only: 39 weeks (38 teaching weeks + 5 inset days)
  • Salary:
    • £22,318 (term-time only, overearnings paid as FTE).
    • +Additional £250 per annum for first-aid responsibilities if allocated to the rota.
  • Contract hours: Standard working week 7.45am–4.30pm, equating to 36.5 hours per week (exact hours to be negotiated).
  • Children’s safeguarding: Employee will be responsible for promoting the welfare of all children in their remit, in line with the school’s safeguarding policies.
