The Centre for African Food Research and Innovation (CAFRI) is a social enterprise focused on advancing research, development, and innovation in the African food and beverage industry beyond the farm level. As an independent membership-based platform, CAFRI promotes collaboration, knowledge sharing, and networking among researchers, industry professionals, and innovators. Role Description

The Conference Rapporteur is a remote volunteer role for CAFRI's annual conference, The African Food CAFRI's & Innovation Conference (AFRIC2026). The Rapporteur will be responsible for accurately documenting conference proceedings, including key discussions, decisions, and action points, and transforming them into clear, structured reports and summaries.

It includes attending the two-day sessions and workshops, taking detailed notes, coordinating with speakers, organisers, and participants to clarify content, and ensuring timely delivery of high-quality written outputs. The successful candidate will also support the preparation of agendas and post-event documentation, contribute to knowledge-sharing materials, and collaborate with the CAFRI team to maintain consistent communication standards across events. This role requires strong attention to detail, excellent organisational skills, and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic, multi-stakeholder environment.

Qualifications

  • Candidates should possess strong recording and note-taking skills, with the ability to capture complex discussions accurately and efficiently.
  • Candidates should possess clear and professional communication skills, including the ability to engage confidently with diverse stakeholders.
  • Candidates should possess excellent writing skills, including the ability to produce concise, well-structured reports, summaries, and conference documentation.
  • Candidates should possess training-related capabilities, such as sharing best practices for documentation and supporting colleagues in effective reporting methods.
  • Relevant experience in conference reporting, event coordination, or research environments is beneficial.
  • A bachelor’s degree in communications, social development, international development, food systems, or a related field is advantageous.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in standard office and collaboration software are desirable.

This is a volunteer role with no financial remuneration. Successful candidates will receive recognition as an official AFRIC 2026 rapporteur, a named credit in the conference report, a certificate of service, and networking with leading food-systems experts across Africa.
