Confidential Opportunity – Finance Director / Financial Controller | Private Investment Group
Private Investment Group (Entrepreneur-Led) Predominantly Remote | UK-Based
We are supporting a founder-led private investment group with a strong track record of acquiring and scaling SMEs, in the search for a commercially minded Finance Director / Financial Controller.
This is a hands-on, high-trust role working directly with the founder, offering broad exposure across both the investment vehicle and (over time) its portfolio companies.
The Opportunity
You will take ownership of the finance function at group level, acting as a key partner to the founder on both financial management and strategic decision-making.
Key responsibilities include:
- Overseeing the financial function and group cash management of the investment company.
- Responsibility for all financial matters including oversight of all financial records, including VAT returns, annual financial statements etc.
- Supporting selected personal financial matters for the founder where required.
- Company secretary and director responsibilities.
- Potential to expand into oversight of the investee companies.

The Profile
This role suits a high-calibre, commercially sharp finance professional who is comfortable operating in a lean, entrepreneurial environment.
- ACA / ACCA (ideally first-time pass), or equivalent strong accounting background
- Experience in SMEs, private equity, search funds, or entrepreneurial environments preferred
- Strong commercial instinct with the ability to move beyond reporting into insight and action
- Comfortable with autonomy and a broad remit
- High level of discretion and trustworthiness
