A leading law firm is seeking a Conflicts Analyst to join their Operations department, based in either Bristol or Edinburgh.

This newly created role sits within the Client Intake Team, which forms part of the Risk and Best Practice function. As a Conflicts Analyst, you will play a pivotal part in supporting the firm's risk management framework by ensuring that client and matter onboarding activities are conducted efficiently, compliantly, and with an exceptional client experience. The team comprises around 15 compliance professionals who work closely with colleagues across the firm, fostering a collaborative environment where your expertise will be valued and nurtured.

What you'll do:

  • Reviewing, triaging, and conducting thorough research and analysis of conflicts reports and any issues arising to ensure compliance with legal standards.
  • Assessing legal and commercial conflicts, including confidentiality matters, to safeguard the interests of clients and the firm.
  • Liaising with lawyers in the Risk and Best Practice Team as well as Partners across the organisation to discuss and resolve potential conflicts issues promptly.
  • Working closely with legal teams to implement agreed outcomes and risk mitigations that align with best practice guidelines.
  • Creating and maintaining information barriers, client and matter lockdowns, as well as clean team arrangements to protect sensitive information.
  • Responding swiftly to ad hoc conflict searches in support of urgent client matters and pitches, demonstrating adaptability under pressure.
  • Maintaining InTapp blackbooks accurately while supporting the continuous improvement of conflicts management systems.
  • Drafting and updating conflicts-related documentation such as policies, procedures, templates for both internal use and external stakeholders.
  • Supporting the preparation and delivery of conflicts training for legal teams to enhance awareness and compliance across the firm.
  • Acting as a subject matter expert and first point of contact for legal teams on conflicts queries, compiling reporting and statistics for stakeholders.

What you bring:

  • Proven experience in conflicts management within a commercial law firm is essential for this role.
  • Excellent attention to detail combined with a consistent, methodical approach to risk and compliance work ensures accuracy in all tasks undertaken.
  • Strong organisational skills are required so you can manage multiple matters simultaneously while prioritising effectively.
  • Comfortable working in a high-volume environment where responding quickly to urgent requests and meeting tight deadlines is crucial.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills enable you to liaise confidently with lawyers and partners across the business.
  • Commercial awareness paired with sound judgement allows you to balance risk management requirements with outstanding client service.
  • Excellent record keeping abilities are vital for maintaining clear audit trails and accurate system notes throughout all processes.
  • High levels of discretion and professionalism are expected when handling confidential or sensitive information within the firm.
  • Experience using InTapp (including blackbooks/matter/client searches) as well as Security Policy Manager (managing information barriers/matter lockdowns) would be beneficial but not mandatory.
  • Ability to mentor junior team members through knowledge sharing demonstrates your commitment to developing others within the team.
