Role - Construction Compliance Lead
Location
Nationwide (flexible base location) with travel as required
Our construction team is undergoing a significant transformation with a focus on insourcing and in-house development across our project portfolio. As part of the RM Engineering family, we have a mission to design, develop and deploy future ready, innovative solutions across our property, automation and maintenance teams. Our focus is now on recruiting talented, driven construction professionals to support the success of our strategy.
As Construction Compliance Lead, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring that construction, refurbishment and estate improvement projects are delivered safely, legally and to the highest technical standards. Acting as the organisation’s subject-matter expert for construction compliance, you will lead governance, quality assurance and risk control activities from project inception through to handover.
Working closely with project teams, contractors and regulators, you’ll help strengthen in-house capability, support an insourcing strategy and embed best-practice construction management across a diverse national programme.
What will you do?
- Lead and maintain the construction compliance and governance framework across all projects.
- Develop and continuously improve compliance policies, procedures, templates and guidance.
- Carry out and support structured site audits, inspections and assurance reviews, covering quality, workmanship, documentation and contractor performance.
- Provide technical review and challenge of designs, specifications, method statements, ITPs and certification.
- Oversee non-conformance management, root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with CDM 2015, Building Regulations, Fire Safety and environmental legislation.
- Support procurement activity through compliance and competency reviews of tender submissions.
- Build effective relationships with contractors and project teams to drive a positive compliance culture.
- Deliver coaching, training and briefings to raise compliance awareness and capability.
- Support project handover, ensuring all compliance, O&M and certification documentation is complete and accurate.

Skills And Experience
- Experience in construction compliance, quality, site management or technical governance roles.
- Strong, hands-on knowledge of construction compliance, quality assurance and statutory frameworks.
- Proven ability to interpret drawings, specifications and technical submissions.
- Solid audit, inspection and verification experience with excellent attention to detail.
- Confident communicator, able to influence, challenge constructively and resolve issues.
- Well organised, analytical and solution-focused, with experience managing multiple projects.
- A collaborative, proactive approach aligned with strong governance and continuous improvement.

Qualifications
- Construction-related degree or equivalent experience.
- Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g. CIOB, ICE) desirable.
- CDM training; ISO 9001 or Temporary Works training advantageous.
- Valid CSCS and a full UK driving licence are essential.
