About the Company
The Hireman is an independent tool hire company providing construction equipment services to professional contractors working in London and the Home Counties. Established in 1985, we pride ourselves on going out of our way to help our customers. Operating from four strategically located depots in Canning Town, Park Royal, Croydon, and Kent, we currently have 100 staff and have plans to grow the business substantially over the next ten years.
What will I be doing?
As part of a depot-based team, you will deliver construction equipment in a 3.5 tonne van to our customers in-and-around London. This role will allow you to learn about our business, our range of equipment, and the industry.

- Driving a 3.5 tonne van in-and-around London
- Delivering and collecting construction equipment
- Administering basic paperwork
- Dealing with and building relationships with our customers
- Learning our range of equipment and the industry
Support and training are provided every step of the way, and we have an extremely successful track record of promoting from within, with over 40% of our people now working in a different role from where they started. Depending on your progress, skills, and preferences, you will have the opportunity to advance into a warehouse, workshop, or office role.
What do I need?
- Customer service experience from either the construction industry, building materials/supplies, equipment, plant, power tools, warehousing, logistics, manufacturing, motor vehicles, or farming.
- A good work ethic with honesty and integrity
- Enthusiasm and a good sense of humour
- A positive, proactive, and flexible approach
- To be a confident, calm, and safe driver
- Enjoy being active and outdoors
- Have a UK/EU manual driving licence, with no more than 3 points
