About T&M Group
T&M Group Ltd is a growing construction, civil engineering, utilities and facilities management business operating across South Wales and the wider UK. We deliver projects ranging from civil engineering and utility infrastructure works to industrial, commercial and specialist construction schemes.
Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced and proactive Freelance Health & Safety Advisor to support our operational teams on an as-required basis.
This role is ideally suited to an experienced H&S professional who enjoys a varied workload across multiple sectors and can provide practical, commercially focused health and safety support.
The Role
Working closely with our Directors, Project Managers and Site Teams, you will provide independent health and safety support across a portfolio of live and pre-construction projects.
You will play a key role in ensuring compliance with CDM 2015, company procedures and client requirements whilst promoting a positive safety culture throughout the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake site inspections and compliance audits across construction, civil engineering and utility projects.
- Produce detailed audit reports identifying findings, corrective actions and improvement opportunities.
- Assist with the development and review of:
- Construction Phase Plans (CPPs)
- Pre-Construction Information (PCI)
- RAMS
- Site-specific management plans
- Traffic management plans
- Environmental management information
- Health & Safety Files
- Provide CDM 2015 guidance and compliance support.
- Review subcontractor documentation and competence submissions.
- Attend project planning meetings where required.
- Support incident investigations and corrective action reviews.
- Advise project teams on legal and industry best practice requirements.
- Monitor implementation of site controls and company procedures.
- Conduct supplier and subcontractor H&S assessments.
- Assist with management system compliance.
- Provide practical advice and mentoring to site management teams.

Essential Requirements
- NEBOSH Construction Certificate (minimum).
- Strong working knowledge of CDM Regulations 2015.
- Experience within construction, civil engineering or utilities sectors.
- Ability to produce professional H&S documentation to a high standard.
- Experience conducting site audits and inspections.
- Excellent report-writing skills.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

Desirable
- GradIOSH, TechIOSH or CMIOSH.
- Temporary Works knowledge.
- Utility sector experience.
- Principal Contractor experience.
- ISO 45001 auditing experience.
- Experience working on framework contracts and infrastructure projects.
What We Are Looking For
The successful candidate will be practical, commercially aware and capable of working independently. We are not looking for someone who simply identifies problems; we want an advisor who can work collaboratively with our operational teams to deliver workable solutions whilst maintaining the highest safety standards.
Engagement Details
- Freelance / Self-Employed Basis.
- Work allocated as projects require.
- Site visits and remote document preparation.
- Flexible working arrangements.
- Regular opportunities across multiple projects.
- Day rate negotiable based on experience and qualifications.
