Could an interim opportunity be your next move?

I'm currently working with a leading national law firm that is looking for an experienced Non-Contentious Construction lawyer to join them on a fixed-term contract basis. The contract term is flexible and could be 3, 6, 9 or 12 months, with the potential for a slightly shorter working week.

This could be a fantastic opportunity for an existing contractor with upcoming capacity, a lawyer who has never considered consultancy, but is keen to experience the flexibility and variety it offers, or someone taking the time to find their ideal permanent role and looking for an interesting interim opportunity in the meantime.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

The role is open to lawyers from circa 6 years' PQE through to very senior lawyers, including ex-Partners/Directors, who are keen to apply their experience and expertise in a contract capacity while continuing to work on high-quality, complex matters.

I'm particularly keen to hear from real estate-focused Non-Contentious Construction lawyers with experience of development, funding and transactional projects. Experience across sectors such as energy, infrastructure, rail, road or nuclear would be an added bonus.
