Construction Manager (Contract)
Location: Western Isles, Scotland (with office base in Glasgow, Inverness or Perth)
Contract Length: 12 Months (long-term programme opportunity with anticipated requirement through to 2030)
Rate: £800–£900 per day Umbrella
The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for experienced Construction Managers to support the delivery of a major UK infrastructure programme. Working on a significant HVDC transmission project, you will lead the delivery of complex civil, building and substation construction packages from pre-construction through to execution.
This is a highly visible, site-based leadership role where you will be responsible for driving safe, efficient and compliant project delivery within a complex, multi-contractor environment.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead and promote a strong safety culture across all site activities.
- Manage construction delivery against programme, quality, environmental and design requirements.
- Drive effective pre-construction planning and ensure robust construction methodologies are in place.
- Oversee contractor performance, holding delivery teams accountable for safety, programme and quality outcomes.
- Coordinate interfaces between contractors, stakeholders and local communities, resolving issues and maintaining project progress.
- Support the successful delivery of major infrastructure works through proactive risk and stakeholder management.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:

- Proven experience delivering large-scale infrastructure, utilities, energy or civil engineering projects.
- Experience working on complex construction programmes such as substations, transmission projects, HVDC schemes or similarly challenging environments.
- Strong knowledge of health & safety legislation and best practice, including CDM 2015.
- Experience working under NEC3 contracts, ideally within a construction management, supervision or site assurance capacity.
- Demonstrable ability to manage multiple interfaces and overcome construction delivery challenges.
- Excellent leadership, stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Relevant site-based qualifications such as SMSTS and CSCS.
