Construction Manager – Major Commercial Refurbishment

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Construction Manager to join a leading main contractor delivering a landmark £74m commercial refurbishment and office fit-out project in the heart of Bristol.

This flagship development will transform an existing office complex into a modern, sustainable workplace, incorporating high-quality office accommodation and premium amenity spaces. As part of the project leadership team, you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring the successful delivery of this prestigious scheme.

The Role

Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing all site operations, ensuring the project is delivered safely, efficiently and in line with programme, quality and commercial objectives.

Working closely with the project, design and commercial teams, you'll coordinate subcontractors, manage site activities and drive performance throughout the construction phase.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate all on-site construction activities.
  • Manage Site Managers, engineers and subcontractors to ensure works are delivered safely and efficiently.
  • Monitor programme performance and proactively address any delays or site challenges.
  • Ensure the highest standards of health, safety, quality and environmental compliance.
  • Coordinate short-term programmes, logistics and resource planning.
  • Work closely with the design and commercial teams to resolve technical and construction issues.
  • Build strong working relationships with the client, consultants and supply chain.
  • Oversee project commissioning, snagging and handover activities.

About You

We're looking for a proven Construction Manager with experience delivering complex commercial projects for a Tier One or leading regional main contractor.

  • Previous experience as a Construction Manager on major commercial construction projects.
  • Strong background in refurbishment, retrofit, cut & carve and commercial office fit-out.
  • Experience working for a Tier One or established regional main contractor.
  • Excellent leadership, planning and communication skills.
  • Strong understanding of construction sequencing, logistics and programme management.
  • SMSTS, CSCS Black Card and a full UK driving licence.
