Location: Acton, London, UK

Contract: Contractor (Outside IR35 / Ltd Company, subject to engagement)

Duration: 3 Months (with potential extension)

Rate: £450 per day (all-inclusive)

Start: ASAP

Pentagon Technical Services is currently seeking an experienced Construction Manager – Fire & Life Safety to support a major project in Acton, London.

This is a site-based role, where you will take responsibility for the successful delivery of the Fire & Life Safety package, ensuring works are completed safely, on programme, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the delivery of the Fire & Life Safety package throughout the construction phase.
  • Coordinate and oversee specialist subcontractors responsible for Fire & Life Safety systems.
  • Ensure works are delivered in accordance with project specifications, relevant standards, and client requirements.
  • Monitor programme, quality, and productivity across all Fire & Life Safety activities.
  • Review and approve RAMS, inspection test plans (ITPs), and installation methodologies.
  • Coordinate with Construction, MEP, QA/QC and Commissioning teams to ensure smooth project delivery.
  • Attend progress meetings and provide regular updates on package status.
  • Identify and resolve technical and construction issues in a timely manner.
  • Ensure all Health & Safety requirements are maintained throughout the project.
  • Support testing, commissioning, snagging, and final handover activities.

Essential Requirements

  • Previous experience as a Construction Manager on major construction or mission-critical projects.
  • Proven experience delivering Fire & Life Safety packages.
  • Strong understanding of one or more of the following systems:
    • Fire Alarm Systems
    • Fire Suppression Systems (FM200, Novec, Inergen or similar)
    • Sprinkler Systems
    • Smoke Control / Smoke Extraction
    • VESDA / Early Warning Detection
    • Passive Fire Protection / Fire Stopping
  • Experience coordinating multiple subcontractors and stakeholders.
  • Good understanding of construction sequencing, QA/QC processes, and commissioning.
  • SMSTS, CSCS (Black or appropriate management card), and First Aid preferred.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.

Desirable

  • Previous experience on Data Centre, Mission Critical, Pharmaceutical, or other complex MEP projects.
  • Knowledge of relevant British Standards, NFPA, or equivalent Fire & Life Safety standards.

Package

  • £450 per day (all-inclusive)
  • 3-month contract, with the possibility of extension.
  • Site-based in Acton, London.
  • Immediate start available for the right candidate
