  • Base Salary: £23,000 per year (progressive pay increase post 12 months).
  • Working Hours: 40 hours/week (Mon-Fri, 7:30 AM – 5:30 PM) + optional weekend overtime (with uplifts).
  • Leave: +22 days (incl. Christmas) + Bank Holidays.
  • Wellbeing: 2 Wellbeing days + 1 Volunteering day annually.
  • On-Site: Use of site canteen + kitchen.
  • Permanent Future: Guaranteed permanent role upon completion as Materials Technician (Starting Salary: £25,000).
  • Training: Structured 20-month Level 3 Apprenticeship via Tiro, combining:
    • Hands-on experience in both lab and field.
    • 6+ hours weekly off-the-job training (virtual lectures, practical workshops).
    • Private mentor support for workplace development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Materials Testing: Diagnose and analyse soils, aggregates, concrete, and construction materials per industry standards.
  • Site Tasks: Carry out on-site sampling, risk assessments, and equipment checks.
  • Data Accuracy:
    • Record test results in technical logs.
    • Confirm compliance with Client & National Building Codes.
  • Communication & Reporting:
    • Provide clear instructions to site teams based on Client specifications.
    • Present analytical summaries to stakeholders.
  • Technical Documentation:
    • Maintain personal development records (CPD, CV).
    • Update project diaries with update notes.
  • Safety & Flexibility: Operate safely on fast-moving construction sites, adopting on-demand team duties.

About You

✅ Proactive & Hands-On: Prefer practical work—spending time on site, testing materials, and refining projects like roads, bridges, or railway infrastructure.

Essential Eligibility:

  • 18+ years (UK-manned site).
  • Full UK driver’s licence.
  • Not currently in full-time education.

Apprenticeship Eligibility

✔️ Must be 16+ and not in full-time education. ✔️ MUST have lived in the UK/NI/Channel Islands/Ireland for 3+ years. ✔️ Right to Work in the UK alone.

⚠️ No prior degree or L3 qualification in directly similar materials sciences—this programme requires new entry.
