You will interact with customers from the Passive Fire Protection industry every day allowing you the opportunity to educate them as well as learn from them. Job Description Function: As a Construction Operative at UKTC you will be responsible for the in preparing supporting constructions and installation of client’s specimens, along with the general housekeeping and site maintenance within the laboratory and build areas. The Role: Building of supporting constructions in line with the clients requirements and/or the relevant testing standards Support in the conducting of fire resistance testing using fire resistance testing furnace Dismantle and disposal of test specimen and supporting construction post-test Good housekeeping of laboratory and all equipment Any other duties in line with the role Essential knowledge/skills/experience: Experience within a similar role, ideally in construction or civils Good joinery and partition building skills Practical problem solving skills Good written and verbal communication skills An understanding of health & safety Highly organised and able to work to tight deadlines Demonstrates a consistent high quality of work Desirable knowledge/skills/experience: Knowledge of the specific risks involved and the technical aspects of the construction process A forklift licence would be an advantage Essential personal attributes: High level of communication skills Detail conscious, high awareness of the importance of getting the facts right Proactive and highly motivated Aligns with company values Key communications: Internal Customers: Head of Testing, Laboratory Operations Manager, Technical Support Staff, Compliance Officer External: Customers, Sub-Contractors, Suppliers, Manufacturers Reports to: The Laboratory Operations Manager and Laboratory Supervisor Financial Management: No People Management: No Qualifications Knowledge of the specific risks involved and the technical aspects of the construction process. A forklift licence would be an advantage. Written and Verbal communication
