Construction Project Manager – Fortis IBA
Fortis IBA is seeking an experienced Construction Project Manager to deliver projects across new and existing IBA processing sites in Kent, Hampshire, Oxfordshire, and Buckinghamshire. From early concept and design through procurement, construction, commissioning, handover, and final sign-off, this hands-on role demands strong technical expertise, commercial acumen, and the ability to manage consultants, contractors, and internal stakeholders effectively.
The Role
You will lead and oversee the following key responsibilities:
- Managing civil engineering, infrastructure, and site development projects
- Leading projects from inception through design, procurement, and construction
- Appointing and managing consultants, contractors, and suppliers
- Collaborating with operational teams to appoint processing plant contractors
- Supervising site works to ensure adherence to safety, quality, and programme requirements
- Administering contracts and managing project delivery
- Overseeing inspections, testing, commissioning, handover, and final sign-off
- Working closely with operations, HSEQ, planning, permitting, and finance teams

Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities include:
- Defining project requirements with senior managers and operational teams
- Managing design, planning, permitting, procurement, and construction stages
- Appointing and managing consultants, contractors, and suppliers
- Overseeing site works, installation, testing, commissioning, and handover
- Monitoring programme, cost, quality, risk, and contractor performance
- Ensuring projects comply with CDM Regulations and the Building Safety Act
- Preparing cost forecasts, tender documents, progress updates, and reports
- Chairing project meetings and maintaining stakeholder engagement (internal and external)
About You
You will bring the following qualifications and experience:
Essential Requirements
- A relevant construction degree and membership of a professional institution
- Experience in managing projects from design through to construction
- Hands-on experience with industrial-type facilities
- Strong site experience, including expertise in health, safety, and quality management
- Proven knowledge in planning, programming, and procurement
- Familiarity with construction contracts
- Understanding of construction costs, budgets, and cost monitoring
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Flexibility to travel and be based on-site when required

Desirable Experience
- Chartered civil engineer status
- Experience in contract set-up and contract administration
- Proficiency in planning software
- Town and country planning experience
- Environment Agency permitting experience
- Plant and equipment installation experience
