Associate – Construction (Contentious & Non-Contentious)

London | Hybrid Working

PQE - 1 - 3 Years

Ortus Group has been exclusively retained by a leading City law firm to appoint an ambitious Construction Associate to join its highly regarded Real Estate practice. Let me tell you more......

This is an outstanding opportunity to join a collaborative and well-established construction team acting for an impressive portfolio of developers, housebuilders, commercial clients, entrepreneurs, high-net-worth individuals, contractors and construction professionals.

The role offers exposure to a broad mix of contentious and non-contentious construction matters, making it ideal for a solicitor looking to develop a genuine specialist practice while working alongside recognised experts in the field.

The Opportunity

The successful candidate will work closely with experienced partners while managing their own caseload and advising clients across a diverse range of construction matters.

On the contentious side, you will advise on matters including:

  • Construction disputes
  • Adjudications under the Construction Act
  • Proceedings in the Technology and Construction Court (TCC)
  • Disputed accounts
  • Delay and extension of time claims
  • Defective workmanship and materials disputes
  • Professional negligence claims

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
