Role Overview

The postholder will be part of a team which we are developing to re-invigorate and develop our acute medical and same day emergency care services. This post will work across acute internal medicine, with a focus on the acute medical unit, same day emergency care and links with our emergency medicine department. The postholder will be key to developing and leading changes to our services which we are developing to better support patient flow and education and training opportunities.

Developing pathways and services that can be brought to our new hospital rebuild, planned to complete in the near future. The post is advertised as 10 PAs. There is a possibility of additional PAs in discussion with the Divisional Director for Unplanned Care. Further subspecialty interests including specialty clinics and service development will also be welcomed and accommodated within the job plan, in addition to the Medical Specialties mentioned above.

Key Responsibilities

  • Be responsible to the Divisional Director of Unplanned Care at The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
  • Participate in the medical on call (acute take) rota (approximately 1:23)
  • Work closely with colleagues to support quality improvement and service development in the department
  • Provide an effective and comprehensive service in developing the medical SDEC/ ambulatory care services on the SDEC unit, working closely with ED and surgical colleagues

Requirements

  • A highly motivated individual with strong leadership, education, and change skills
  • A committed clinician with a track record of excellent clinical service delivery, quality improvement, teaching, and training
  • Participation in annual job planning and annual appraisal as part of the revalidation cycle is required
