Consultant Breast Radiologist
NHS Lanarkshire
Consultant in Breast Radiology
Applications are invited for the post of Consultant Radiologist with a subspecialty interest in Breast Radiology. This is a replacement post, available from August 2026. The appointment will be with NHS Lanarkshire and is based at University Hospital Wishaw, with cross-site working between University Hospitals Monklands and Hairmyres required. This is a breast radiology-only post, with no on-call duties. However, general radiology rotations may be incorporated if required.
About the Role
The successful candidate will be involved in the investigation and management of both benign and malignant breast disease. Key requirements include:
- Experience with a comprehensive breast radiology training programme, including:
- One-stop clinics
- Breast MRI
- Tomosynthesis
- Contrast mammography reporting
- Wireless localisation of impalpable breast cancers
- Full proficiency in procedural skills, including ultrasound-guided (US) and stereotactic biopsy

Working Arrangements
- Full-time post (10 PA basis; part-time applications considered)
- Potential Enhanced Personal Arrangement (EPA) opportunities for both part-time and full-time roles
- Encouraged proposals for additional Sessional Payment Allowance (SPA) time from applicants who demonstrate expertise in:
- Quality improvement initiatives
- Patient safety (including human factors training)
- Medical education & teaching
- Research & Development (R&D)
- Acting as an Appraiser
Applicants interested in SPA time beyond 1 PA should coordinate a proposal with:
