Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist – Fixed Term Post
ELFT has long been recognised as a centre of excellence in mental and healthcare, innovation, and improvement. We are seeking a passionate consultant child and adolescent psychiatrist to join our Tower Hamlets Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) on an **8 PA fixed-term basis (3–6 months)*.
About the Role
We are a dedicated Greatorex Street Community CAMHS service supporting young people up to 18 years old, their families, and carers within the Tower Hamlets borough. You will take on a joint Clinical Team Lead role in collaboration with a co-Clinical Team Lead, ensuring high-quality assessment, treatment, and support for children and adolescents with complex mental health needs.

- Work within the Emotional & Behavioural Team and CAMHS in Social Care
- Lead clinical decision-making and service development
- Hold a position of clinical governance, quality improvement, and professional accountability

Person Specification
Education & Training (Essential)
- Full GMC registration
- MRCPsych Part 1 & 2, or equivalent
- Eligibility for the Specialist Register or CCT (within 6 months).
- Section 12 approved or Approved Clinician status (or commitment to apply).
(Desirable: Higher academic degree)
Research (Desirable)
- Experience in peer-reviewed academic publications in psychiatry.
Core Experience
- Clinical expertise in assessing and managing complex CYP mental health disorders.
- Superior communication & leadership (team coordination, patient/professional relationships).
- Ability to thrive under pressure, innovate, and uphold high standards.
(Desirable: Advanced training in psychotherapy—family therapy, CBT, individual/group modalities).
Teaching & Mentoring
- Experience in small-group teaching and lecturing.
- Commitment to undergraduate & postgraduate mentorship.
Audit & Quality Improvement
- Audit leadership overview in clinical areas.
- Committee meeting participation.
(Desirable: Management experience)—clinical area leadership, service development.
