Consultant Clinical/Counselling Psychologist (0.4wte)
About the Role
We are seeking a Consultant Clinical/Counselling Psychologist to join the Inverclyde Primary Care Mental Health Team (PCMHT) in a permanent part-time (0.4wte) post. This role provides clinical leadership for delivery of psychological therapies (PTs) within the team, building upon existing work and supporting ongoing initiatives in line with:
- Recent board-wide benchmarking exercise
- NHSGGC PCMHT Review
- National Psychological Therapies Specification
The post involves governance of PTs, direct clinical care, consultancy on psychological care, ensuring supervision systems are maintained, and delivering training to multidisciplinary staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the clinical governance of psychological therapies for the team
- Provide direct clinical care aligned with service requirements
- Offer consultancy to the team on psychological health interventions
- Guarantee robust supervision systems for staff delivering therapies
- Design and deliver training on psychological therapies across multidisciplinary teams
- Collaborate with management and wider psychology teams to meet service objectives

Requirements
- Must be registered as a Clinical or Counselling Psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
- Demonstrated substantial post-qualification experience in:
- Adult mental health
- Supervision practices
- Leadership within psychology teams
- Multi-disciplinary collaboration
- Strong alignment with NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde’s (NHSGGC) values on service improvement
Role Context
- Joins the Inverclyde Psychology Service, supporting local CMHT, OP-CMHT and inpatient services
- Access to Clyde-wide psychology team support, along with professional development and CPD opportunities
