Role

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Ecologist to join our successful Ecology Team. This is an exciting opportunity to support the delivery of a diverse range of projects across England while developing your ecological skills and experience within a collaborative and supportive environment.

How You'll Contribute

  • Assisting with the planning and delivery of ecological surveys and mitigation projects.
  • Undertaking UK Habitat Classification (UKHab) and/or Preliminary Ecological Appraisal (PEA) surveys to identify and map habitats and assess their potential to support notable or protected species.
  • Supporting protected species surveys under the guidance of experienced ecologists.
  • Assisting with data collection, analysis, and report writing to produce high-quality ecological deliverables.
  • Supporting project delivery by helping to maintain quality standards and project deadlines.
  • Liaising professionally with clients, contractors, and colleagues as required.
  • Embodying the Delta-Simons values of integrity, commitment, empowerment, sustainability, wellbeing, and innovation.
  • Building positive working relationships with colleagues, clients, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related subject (2:1 or above preferred).
  • Graduate or Qualifying membership of CIEEM, or a willingness to work towards membership.
  • Around 1–2 years' experience in ecological consultancy or a relevant ecological role (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience undertaking habitat and/or protected species surveys.
  • A Natural England protected species licence would be advantageous but is not essential.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • A full UK driving licence.
