The Role

As Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist, you'll provide clinical leadership for a 12-bed male low secure ward at the Chichester Centre, working within a highly experienced multidisciplinary team delivering trauma-informed, recovery-focused care.

You'll:

  • Lead specialist assessment and treatment for patients within a low secure forensic setting
  • Chair ward rounds, CPA meetings, and recovery reviews
  • Undertake forensic assessments through the single point of access referral pathway
  • Provide clinical leadership and supervision to medical and multidisciplinary colleagues
  • Support service development and quality improvement across forensic services
  • Contribute to governance, teaching, and strategic service planning

About the Service

The Chichester Centre forms part of Sussex Partnership's specialist Forensic Healthcare Service, providing low and medium secure inpatient care alongside community forensic services across Sussex.

The service offers:

  • A newly developed low secure inpatient ward
  • Trauma-informed, recovery-focused care
  • Strong multidisciplinary working across psychology, nursing, and allied health professionals
  • A well-established consultant network with excellent peer support

What We're Looking For

We're seeking a Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist who has:

  • GMC Specialist Registration (or within six months of entry)
  • Section 12 approval (or ability to obtain)
  • Approved Clinician status (or ability to obtain)
  • Expertise in forensic psychiatry and multidisciplinary working
  • A passion for clinical leadership, teaching, and service improvement
