We have an exciting opportunity to join a friendly, dynamic, and forward-thinking Children’s Emergency Department at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust (NUH). The department is part of the Major Trauma Centre for the East Midlands, based within Nottingham Children’s Hospital, serving over 2.5 million residents.

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Consultant who:

Key Responsibilities
Clinical Leadership & Patient Care
- Contribute to the consultant clinical rota in the Children and Young People’s Emergency Department (CYPED)
- Provide senior clinical leadership on-site, assessing and managing acutely unwell/injured children and young people
- Lead paediatric resuscitation and major trauma responses, collaborating with Children’s Hospital and Major Trauma Centre teams

Multi-Disciplinary Team Support
- Lead effectively across multi-professional teams, including doctors, nurses, and advanced clinical practitioners
- Actively participate in education, supervision, and training of junior doctors, nurses, and other learners
Clinical Governance & Service Development
- Engage in audit, quality improvement, incident review, and service development
- Contribute to clinical governance, ensuring best practice and patient safety
- Maintain Good Clinical Practice (GCP) certification and actively support academic and research initiatives
Departmental & Strategic Contributions
- Engage in the leadership and governance of CYPED and Nottingham Children’s Hospital
- Contribute to education, research, and service improvement projects
Requirements
- A passion for providing exceptional care to children and young people
- Strong clinical expertise in emergency medicine and paediatrics
- Demonstrable leadership and communication skills
- Commitment to levelling up a world-class paediatric emergency care service
