We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Community Consultant in General Adult Psychiatry to join the East Staffordshire Integrated Mental Health Team (IMHT) based in Burton on Trent.
The role involves providing clinical leadership to the team as part of a collective leadership structure, and providing support and supervision as required to the Advanced Nurse Practitioner and Non-Medical Prescribers. You will have responsibility to supervise a trainee attached to the team, although as with any training post this is subject to trainee availability. Opportunities are also available in the Trust to participate in postgraduate and undergraduate education for Junior Doctors and medical students from Keele Medical School.
This role covers the East Staffordshire IMHT, comprising of one Primary Care Networks (PCNs); East Staffordshire, population 134749. The post provides Consultant Psychiatrist cover for the whole IMHT, and the post holder will offer assessment and treatment to adults of working age with a range of mental health problems.

This is part of a functionalised model in which patients requiring inpatient care, crisis or home treatment have their care temporarily transferred to the relevant pathway and therefore will have no clinical remit outside of the IMHT.
You will take part in out of hours duties; on call work is remunerated at 3% as well as 0.25 APAs.
Main duties of the job
As the Community Consultant, you will be working as part of a multi-disciplinary team and in partnership with voluntary care sector organisations and acute care settings. You will require a strong background in Clinical leadership.
As part of this role, you will be expected to:
- Ensure, in conjunction with the multidisciplinary team, regular effective review of the care of patients in the clinical pathway – via individual assessments and follow up appointments, risk assessments, safeguarding needs and MDT meetings
- Responsible Clinician for service users in the pathway who are subject to Community Treatment Order (CTO) where applicable.
- Provide evidence-based care.
- Be recovery focused.
- Provide cross-cover (emergency and prospective) for other Consultant Psychiatrist colleagues by mutual agreement
- Communicate with all key partners in an appropriate and timely way including service users, carers and General Practitioners.
- Work within the requirements of service contracts including compliance with nationally agreed quality standards
