Consultant in Gynaecology with Sub-Specialty Accreditation in Fertility and Reproductive Medicine
Birmingham Women’s and Children’s NHS Foundation Trust is seeking to appoint a substantive Consultant in Gynaecology with sub-specialty accreditation in Fertility and Reproductive Medicine.
This job will consist of 10 Programmed Activities (PAs) per week as an annualised contract. The job plan includes on-call duties as part of a 1 in 12 - 14 rota for Gynaecology. The successful applicant will be based at the Birmingham Women’s Hospital; they will work primarily in the fertility team delivering fertility and reproductive endocrine clinics, aspects of Fertility Treatment such as Egg Collection, surgical sperm retrieval, embryo Transfer and ultrasound scanning and gynaecology operating at unit level.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver fertility and reproductive endocrine clinics
- Conduct aspects of Fertility Treatment such as:
- Egg Collection
- Surgical sperm retrieval
- Embryo Transfer
- Ultrasound scanning
- Perform gynaecology operating at unit level
Requirements
- Be aware of local policies and procedures
- Comply with the standing orders and standing financial instructions of the Trust
- Observe the local employment and personnel policies and procedures if managing employees

Working Hours
- Full-time with on-call commitments on the Gynaecology Consultant Rota
- Transitioning towards 7-day and 3-session working
- Expected to work some evening clinical duties and weekend sessions
Job Plan Outline
Monday
- AM: SPA
- PM: IVF Unit
Tuesday
- AM: MDT (08:00-09:00)
- All day: IVF Unit
Wednesday
- AM: Theatre or SPA/Admin
Please note that the above timetable is subject to changes with agreement from the new appointed post-holder prior to implementation. Additional to the draft timetable, the current on-call frequency is 1:12 for weekdays and 1:14 for weekends.
