You will be joining a team of two other subspecialty trained gynae oncologists, a consultant gynaecologist, two general gynaecologists with expertise and interest in gynae oncology and specialist nurses amongst others. The gynaecology oncology operating takes place at QEQM hospital which is a busy district general hospital close to the Kent coast. The gynaecology ward has 20 beds and is staffed by a team of motivated gynae nurses. The gynaecology ward is also at QEQM hospital.
QEQM has dedicated early pregnancy unit (EPAU) and gynae assessment unit (GAU) which are adjacent to the gynaecology ward. There are regular oncology clinics on 3 of the sites and additional colposcopy and 2 week wait clinics on a further 1 site.
The Trust hosts medical students on attachment from GKT, UCL and Imperial Medical Schools and became a University Hospital linked to GKT in 2009. From September 2020, we started to host an intake of medical students from the new Kent and Medway medical school which is based in East Kent.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
